Where should I invest my money?

My FD has matured recently, and I received 10L from my FD. And I want to invest this amount somewhere other than in a bank. Could you advise me on where I should invest my money? Should I invest in stock market or mutual funds? Is this the right time to invest in mutual funds? Should I wait for some time before investing, or is this the right time to invest in mutual funds?
