To keep my "free" bank benefits, I need to maintain the average quarterly balance. If I fall short, how exactly are the free deposit and transaction limits impacted, and do extra charges apply?

If your average balance for the quarter dips below the required limit, the bank is likely to cut back on your free perks, such as free withdrawals and check transactions. However, the biggest concern for customers is those surprise fees. The bank might start charging you standard fees for each transaction, and they may also hit you with a separate fee for not maintaining the minimum balance. Therefore, it’s crucial to review that list of charges!

Doesn't the accumulation of standard transaction fees, when added to the minimum balance penalty, create the biggest and most immediate financial shock for customers?

If keeping up with the minimum balance is getting tough, wouldn't switching to a zero-balance account be better? It seems smarter than paying penalties, especially if hidden fees eat up the "free" perks anyway.
